Spring is here - time to enjoy the outdoors

April marks the arrival of Spring. Finally, Winter is over and we've all started to emerge from hibernation to start enjoying the outdoors. As the sunnier spells greet us it's time to take advantage of our parks and gardens but if you fancy something a little bit different here are just a few outdoor events taking place in London this month.

Books in the Park – 13th April
Books in the Park is the perfect excuse to pack a picnic and head to Lewisham's beautiful Beckenham Place Park. With author talks, guided walks, writing workshops and an interactive children's programme. Unsurprisingly nature is the theme.

Hampton Court Palace Tulip Festival – 15th April to 6th May
Henry VIII's former home will be filled with 10,000 tulips! Hampton Court Palace's Tulip Festival is one of the biggest planted displays of the colourful flowers in the UK and is a good excuse to celebrate the start of spring. The expert gardeners predict the displays will look at their best in mid-April so visit sooner than later.

Earth Fest – 18th to 21st April (Note only open to the public on the 20th & 21st April)
Ahead of Earth Day, taking place on April 22nd, Camden Clear Air Initiative have organised the first Earth Fest. The event features speakers, workshops and immersive exhibitions to discuss the pressing issue of the climate in an engaging and interactive way. Visit the fashion zone will featuring sustainable brands and upcycled masterpieces, and there'll be talks by experts at the Future of Greentech summit. April 18 & April 19 are invite only, but it's open free of charge to the public on April 20th & 21st.

London Marathon – 21st April
50,000 brave souls are taking part in this years London Marathon. Starting in Greenwich Park in south-east London and finishing right by Buckingham Palace. Find the best spectating spots and track down nearby pubs and bars as this monumental sporting occasion makes it absolutely fine to drink lager or rosé in the street at 10am on a Sunday!

Classic Car Boot Sale – 27th & 28th April
Unlike your usual boot sale, there's no tat being flogged here. Visit Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard at King's Cross where vendors are gearing up with rare classic vehicles selling vintage fashion, homewares and collectibles. It's a proper day out with lots of pop up eateries and DJs playing vintage vinyl.
