Millions of people across the globe are getting ready for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 which will take place at the Liverpool Arena next to the River Mersey on Saturday 13th May.
This years extravaganza is being hosted by the UK on behalf of Ukraine, who won last year but unable to host the event amid Russia's land, air, and sea invasion of the country.
It is the first time Eurovision has been held in the UK since 1998, the year after the country's entry for 1997, Katrina and the Waves, won.
The UK will be represented by 25-year-old Mae Mueller, who will be performing a track called 'I Wrote a Song' – with tongue-in-cheek lyrics about a cheating ex-boyfriend set to a dance beat. The UK's very own spaceman Sam Ryder will return to the Eurovision stage, followed by "The Liverpool Songbook" showcasing a celebration of the Host City's incredible contribution to the world of pop music.
Previous UK entries that have won:
Sandie Shaw - Puppet on a String (1967)
Lulu - Boom Bang-a-Bang (1969 as a joint winner with Spain, the Netherlands and France)
Brotherhood of Man - Save Your Kisses for Me (1976)
Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up (1981)
