For those who are fed up with London's chain restaurants, shops and bars; with their dull and homogenised aura and lack of character. Highgate remains refreshingly diverse and independent. The High Street is full of small cafés, boutique and specialist shops, as well as plenty of independent pubs and restaurants. The village itself has an independent pharmacy, newsagent, bakery, barbers, opticians, vets, two beauty salons as well as the boutique children's clothes shop ‘NotSoBig'. In fact Highgate even boasts a specialist curtain retailer ‘Highgate Curtains'. All this without a Wetherspoons in sight!
