Halloween

Date Published 06 October 2023

As 31st October looms, many people around the country will once again be marking Halloween.

The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward of ghosts, over the years other traditions have merged, with activities such as the practice of decorating pumpkins ‘Jack o 'Lanterns' and the giving of treats, making it the festival that we now know as Halloween.

After a successful Halloween Trial last year, Highgate Society are once again organising what looks to be an even better trail this year, with local business taking part, there will be decorations and treats along the way, so dig out your scariest costumes and come over all spooky on the 31st October between 5:30 to 7:30pm.
