In 1995 Taylor Gibbs Sales Department was opened which complemented our lettings department in many respects being able to offer our clients full property services from buying, selling, letting and renting. I have seen many changes in the property market over the last 25 years and Taylor Gibbs has certainly been an interesting and exciting career path with no day ever the same!

The residential property landscape in Highgate is somewhat different to when Taylor Gibbs arrived on the scene in 1990. With the Bank of England base interest rate at 15%, the cost of borrowing was extremely high when compared with today. However, as everyone is fully aware, the increase in price of properties has meant that despite the Bank of England base rate having dropped to 0.5% and having remained there for over 6 years, owning a home in Highgate and the surrounding area remains out of touch for many people.

Taylor Gibbs has seen many businesses come and go from the High Street over the last 25 years. The Village Fruit and Veg, Barclays, Lloyds, the Prince of Wales and the Dukes Head were amongst the few who have enjoyed a longer presence than Taylor Gibbs in Highgate. However, more contemporary shops such as Not so Big, Face It, Hair of the Dog and High Tea, along with Tesco and the Village Deli have changed the feel of the Village to what it is today.

As a successful agent over so many years, we continue to go from strength to strength in a strong but changing marketplace and with a big emphasis on being actively involved in, and very supportive of the Highgate Community. To that end, we support and take active roles in the Fair in the Square, the Christmas Fair and the other events that make Highgate what it is today.
