England have had a great start to this years World Cup by taking all 9 points from their opening 3 games and winning Group D. On Wednesday they comfortably won by 2 goals against Japan with Ellen White providing both goals.
This Sunday they play their first knock out game of the tournament against Cameroon. Cameroon placed 3rd in Group E having lost to both Canada and Netherlands and taking their only 3 points from New Zealand. England are firm favourites to progress through the round. If England win the game then they will play either Norway or Australia in the Quarter Final. If they reach the Semi-Finals it could prove a lot more challenging with France, Brazil, Spain and the United States all vying for the spot. The U.S national team are looking to clinch an incredible fourth World Cup title and are the bookies favourites to win the competition.
Managed by Phil Neville, some believe that the women's team will surpass the men's efforts from 2018. Every football fan will remember the belief and enjoyment of last summer and we all wish the Lionesses the best of luck.
