The majority of the housing stock in Highgate is made up of stunning Georgian, Victorian and Gothic buildings. Many of these structures have been converted into modern apartments for modern day living whilst maintaining most of the sought-after period features. There is also a Highgate Society which works tirelessly to protect and conserve the historical architecture of the area. There are dozens of listed buildings around Highgate, from St Michaels Church which dates back to 1858, the Gatehouse Inn constructed in 1670 and all Highgate School which was built as far back as 1565.
